Synthetic Nature marks Anne Flipo’s dazzling debut for Editions de Parfums Frédéric Malle, meticulously formulated as an ultra-contemporary floral tribute to the iconic, sharp green chypre fragrances of the 1970s. Operating masterfully at the intersection of naturalism and advanced chemistry, Flipo utilizes chemical synthesis not merely to imitate, but to vividly recreate and amplify the poetry of a lush, stylized nature rendered in heavily saturated, almost unnatural colors. The architecture of the scent revolves around a luminous, sunny bouquet of jasmine and ylang-ylang, which is sharply underscored by the crisp, botanical green crunch of hyacinth, basil, and lily of the valley. To propel the composition firmly into modernity, a precise infusion of blackcurrant and the synthetic molecule styrallyl acetate is deployed, casting a distinct, fluorescent glow over the floral elements.
